There will upcoming free classes for members.  The D.E.P. hold classes on plant identification and lake  management issues.  These classes will be announced when the weather get's warmer.

We have contracted with aquatic control technologies of Mass.  They are in the process of getting the necessary  D.E.P. permits for 2009. Check out their web site.  The weed infestation is severe in the Northern section of the  pond, but it is localized and treatable.  An interesting aside to the weed problem is that the weeds were analyzed by  the D.E.P. and the weeds are a hybrid and came from an aquarium dump.  It is common for well meaning people to dump their fish and other contents into lakes and ponds.  You can now see the catastrophic results.

We have finally resolved to spillway issue!!  The town has assumed responsibility of the spillway.  They will be  lowering the water level on or about October 15th each year.  On or about the following April15th, the water will be  raised to last year's level.  If you have a water level issue, please do not take matters in your own hands.  Please  contact us and we will approach the Town if you have a legitimate issue.  Our Email address is listed here.

Check back often as our "Photos" and "Plants" sections will be changed frequently and we encourage you to send  in your photos, we will post them.

Every day someone says "what can I do to help?" the answer is: to get involved.  The association is only as good as  the membership.  Working together, we can preserve Moosup Pond for our children and beyond.

Urgent Update on D.E.P. Grant request!!

The D.E.P. did not award any monies for plant eradication and sent the monies back to the general fund. The Association has some monies for plant eradication and it looks like we can do most of the treatment this Spring, and then finish the treatment either in the Fall of 2009 or Spring 2010. We will keep you posted.
